While we're stuck at home coming to terms with the expired food in our pantries, we can all rest a little bit easier finally knowing the story behind the name of America's sturdiest cracker: Triscuits.
As writer Sage Boggs detailed recently, the meaning of the name Triscuit has been a mystery for a while.

Maybe it has something to do with only having three ingredients? Or having three layers? Nope.
Sage contacted Nabisco, the cracker's manufacturer, to ask, and they confirmed the 'tri' prefix has nothing to do with the number three.
But weirdly enough, Nabisco didn't have an answer for what the name means. No one at the company knew because "no business records survived which explain the origin" of the name.
Not sure what kind of horrific food explosion went down at the cracker factory, but anyway...
Sage eventually came across old Triscuit advertisements and noticed they claimed the cracker was "baked by electricity." Which led him to conclude that the 'tri' in Triscuit came from 'electricity.'
So...electricity + biscuit = Triscuit.
And if you think this is just idiotic speculation, Nabisco responded in agreement.
We had to go all the way up the ladder but we CAN confirm ⚡️ https://t.co/yFWWL3MjX3

So there you have it, another useless fact you can pull out the next time you're at a party and don't know what to talk about. Whenever that will be...
